1830 census record for Joseph Barton:
Matilda married Joseph Barton and they had several children, but by the 1850 Hall County, Georgia census, the family had vanished. 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 census records were checked in many other states and even the California census (Gold Rush), but Joseph, Matilda and children haven't been located.
Perhaps Joseph died, Matilda remarried, and all the children took their stepfather's surname.
