Obituary in local paper

Mr. J. J. Kelly of Belton township died at his home on Tuesday, June 28th of 1910 and was buried at Cedar Grove Baptist Church the following day, after funeral services conducted by the Rev. N. G. Wright.

Mr. Kelly was sixty years of age and been twice married. His first wife was Miss Caroline Johnson. Unto them were born twelve children. Two preceded him to the grave. His second wife was Miss Maggie Crawford. To them nine children were born, all of whom survive him. Eighteen of his children were at his bedside at the time of his death and were present at the funeral.

Mr. Kelly was a good man and highly esteemed by his neighbors as was shown by the very large crowd that attended the burial. In his death, the wife and children lose a kind and affectionate husband and father – the church one of its strongest members – the community one of it's best citizens.

Mr. Kelly began in early life a very poor man but hard work and good business management has left his family very comfortably off. To have known him was to have loved him. His family have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
