In the 1800 census Hugh was in Beaver, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, United States. He had one boy under the age of ten who could have been Albert, George, Lazarus or John and two girls under the age of ten. One of those would have been Martha the other could have been Isabel or Kizzy. His father Lawrence is living next door.[1]
Hugh was in a military record in 1812-1815 in United States. This record of service in the War of 1812 is attached to Hugh's Find a Grave Memorial, but Hugh would have been 49 at the time he is supposed to have served.[2]
In the 1820 census Hugh was in Charlestown, Charlestown Township, Clark, Indiana, United States. He is living a few homes down from his father Lawrence, but there is an inconsistency. The census records that there was a male under the age of 10 and two males between 16-26. Hugh did not have a son under the age of ten at the time. Lawrence would have been about 16 Lazarus would have been 24. Nancy and Isabel were probably the two women living with him.[3]
In the 1830 census Hugh was in Charlestown Township, Clark, Indiana, United States. This census is even more puzzling than the last. It lists a boy under five and two women one was 20-30 and the other 60-70. His wife died in 1815, so it is unclear who those people were. Perhaps he married a second time? [4]
Hugh died on 12 December 1837 and was buried in Mountain Grove Cemetery in Henryville, Clark, Indiana, United States.[5]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Hugh by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Hugh:
Kelly-7325 and Kelly-5201 appear to represent the same person because: My records agree with yours that Hugh was the son of Lawrence Kelly and Martha Smith Kelly. I have seen some records that say Hugh died in 1837 and others in 1839.
