Note: He was a notable member of the Mt Templeton district for over thirty years. He was president of the Balaklava and Dalkey Agricultural Society for fifteen years and also served as a district councillor. A staunch churchman, he was Circuit Steward of the Pt Wakefield Methodist Circuit.
In his later years, suffering from Cancer, he retired to Adelaide but shortly afterwards died of the disease at the North Adelaide Hospital on 13 March 1906.
The Kelly brothers partnership was then dissolved.

MR JAMES KELLY
Mr James Kelly, who died on Monday at the Adelaide Hospital, had resided at Mnt. Templeton for about 30 years, and was highly esteemed for his sterling character, and for the great Interest taken by him in local and political matters. For some years he was a district Councillor, and for 15 years he filled with conspicuous ability the position of President of the Agricultural Society. He was a local preacher for the Methodist Church. Owing to failing health, Mr Kelly recently retired from agricultural operations. He has left a widow and family.

THE LATE MR JAS. KELLY J.P. - We regret to record the death of Mr Jas. Kelly J.P. which occurred at the North Adelaide Hospital on Monday morning last. The deceased was widely known and highly respected, having resided at Mount Templeton for 30 years. He was a member of the Balaklava District Council for several years, and was President of the Balaklava and Dalkey Agricultural Society. He took an active interest in political matters and some years ago was a candidate for the old District of Wooroora. He has also occupied the position of Circuit Steward of the Port Wakefield Methodist Circuit, and was also a local preacher.
The funeral took place in the West terrace cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, the Revs. W.H. Hanton, Jno. Pearce and A.D.Bennett officiating at the grave. There were present at the graveside a large number of the deceased's relatives. Sir Jenkin Coles M.P. , R.Caldwell, Mr D.Virgo J.P., Mr W.T.S. Harris J.P. , and Mr Shuttlesworth.
