Biography

George Kemp was born in Bowmanville n 1856. He was the son of John Kemp and Elizabeth Tyers. He moved to Perth County. He married Fanny Parrish in Hibbert Township in 1883. Fanny died in 1892. He married Emily Potter. He passed away in Mitchell in 1929.

The death of George Kemp, well known citizen of Mitchell, occurred very suddenly Friday night. Mr. Kemp had been in failing health for some time, but he had been able to be about his affairs up until the hour of his death which took place as he was retiring with his family. The early part of his life was spent in Hibbert Township, but up until seven years ago when he moved to Mitchell he was a prominent farmer in Fullarton Township. Deceased was a Past President of the Fullarton, Logan and Hibbert Agricultural Society and was one of its Directors at the time of his death. He was 74 years (error 73) and was one of the most respected men of the country. Mr. Kemp is survived by five(four) sons, Frank, Mortlach, Saskatchewan, Cecil, John and Clifford of Fullarton four daughters, Mrs Thomas Patterson, Fullarton, Mrs. Francis Williams, Glenavon, Saskatchewan, Fanny and Joy at home. There are also some of Mr. Kemp's family living - three brothers Louis (Luther), Toronto, Edwin, Fullarton and John in the States, three sisters Mrs. Sarah Butson, North Dakota, Mrs. Elizabeth Lewarne and Mrs. Frank Sully, Toronto. The funeral, which was private, took place from the residence on Water St. on Snday and interment took place in Woodland Cemetery.[1]
