Biography

Elizabeth Kendall, the daughter of Francis Kendal, was born on 15 Jan 1653 at Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[1][2][3][4]

The Great Migration 1634-1635, T-Y. Page 486(Online database. AmericanAncestors.org. New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2012.) Originally published as: The Great Migration, Immigrants to New England, 1634-1635, Volume VII, T-Y, by Robert Charles Anderson. Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2011.) shows that Ephraim Winship married, as his second wife, Elizabeth, daughter of Francis Kendall, at Cambridge 9 Nov 1675.

Watertown records show: "Joseph Peirce (sic) of water town &: Elizabeth winship of Cambridge wear Joyned together in marriage June 15: 1698: before mr samuel Angier."(Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850 (Online Database: AmericanAncestors.org, New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2001-2010). Watertown Records, Vol. 2, Page 4)

On Feb. 10, 1700, whereas “Ens. Ephraim Winshipp late of Cambridge ffarms… deceased intestate ye 19th of October 1696 and admin being granted to Eliza ye relict widow of ye sd Ephraim Winship who afterwards married with Joseph Pierce of Watertowne… his hond ffather in law Mr. Ffrances Kendall at Woobourne demands these following debts viz that his son in law Ephraim Winship in the time of the former warr caled Phillips Warr came to his hous for shelter for fear of the Indians because his living was then in ye woods remote from neighbours and he brought with him his ancient mother in law Reigner a widow of whome he was to take care.”[5]

↑ The 1715 death date often seen for Elizabeth Kendall is the date for James Pierce's wife and so does not apply to Elizabeth Kendall. On 22 Dec 1713, the widow Elizabeth and son Jacob were granted Administration on Joseph Peirce's estate. NEHGR 55:443 also cites the History of Lexington, p. 268, to say that the widow Elizabeth (Kendall) (Winship) Peirce was dismissed from Woburn to the church in Lexington.

Marriages

Ephraim Winship married, as his second wife, Elizabeth, daughter of Francis Kendall, at Cambridge 9 Nov 1675.[6]

"Joseph Peirce (sic) of water town &: Elizabeth winship of Cambridge wear Joyned together in marriage June 15: 1698: before mr samuel Angier."[7]

Kendall-1086 and Kendall-478 appear to represent the same person because: same husband and name

I believe that the marriage to James Pierce, as claimed by Clements in "The Kendall Family in America," is incorrect and thgat Elizabeth married Joseph, not James. I have asked the questions on G2g. Please see http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/223482/which-peirce-did-elizabeth-kendall-b-1653-marry

If there is no evidence for the marriage to James, I propose to remove him as husband.
