Explanation of Changes

John Kendrick (1735-1811) served in the Virginia Militia not North Carolina.

Edited prefix. Captain is a higher rank than lieutenant.

Removed from bio "The Boston Tea Party" paragraph from bio. was held December 1773, when about sixty men armed as Indians boarded two vessels laden with tea, tore open the hatches, and threw 340 chests of tea overboard as a protest against the levy of taxes without the consent of the people. The populace had previously refused to permit any cargo of tea to be landed and a number of ships had been obliged to leave port with their cargo untouched. In the following year, the British Parliament passed a bill closing the port of Boston and transferring the seat of government to Salem. The bill became law on March 31, 1774. This was the Lieutenant John Kendrick (1735-1802) who was one of a committee appointed 14 June 1774 to oppose the bill, a protest against closing the port of Boston

This John Kendrick did not serve as Lieutenant in Capt. Walbridge's Company, 13th Regimental Continental troops, commanded by Joseph Reed, Esq.

Recently discovered through DNA , I am descended through John Kendrick. Problem is that my ancestor is not listed as one of his children, I believe she passed several years before his will was written. Her name was Priscilla and I believe she was the oldest child of John and Amy Kendrick. She married William Phillips in the 1770s, when she was still a teenager , and he was in his late 30 -40s. She was living in Mecklenburg County,NC and gave birth to my 4th great grandmother Sarah Phillips. Sarah married Mason Richardson and gave birth to her first son, Kendrick Richardson abt 1775. In the will of William Phillips’ mother, Jane written in 1793, she names daughter in law Priscilla Phillips. In Williams will written in 1815, he lists his wife as Lucey. Obviously Lucy was the second wife and not the mother of his children. In the will of Obedience Kendrick Dinkins , a known child of John Kendrick and named in his will , she leaves a horse and saddle and all her wearing apparel to HER NIECE, SARAH RICHARDSON ! I am desperately trying to find any mention of Priscilla anywhere besides the the will of her mother in law. Just wanted to share this information with all of you researching John Kendrick !
