Elizabeth Kennedy was born May 16, 1782 in New Jersey, daughter of Robert C. Kennedy and Elizabeth Henry. On March 15, 1801, she married the Honorable James Matlack in Sussex County. They had one known daughter, Hannah Cook (Matlack) Scovel (1806-1896). Elizabeth died April 18, 1814 and was buried at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, Gloucester County, New Jersey. James married Elizabeth’s sister, Keturah Cooke Kennedy (1792-1828), on January 28, 1817 in Gloucester County. Keturah was buried near her sister as was James. NOTE: All the grave markers have the spelling MATLOCK.
