Biography

From the Peerage of Scotland, Helen Kennedy was the daughter of Gilbert Kennedy, 2nd Earl of Cassillis, and Isabella Campbell, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Argyll. Helen Kennedy married William Adair of Kinhilt before 1549 and was living on 24 Nov 1571.^[1][2]

Other information is speculative.

Her birth date depends on how long before 1549 she was married. Her son Ninian is supposed to have been born in 1531 but whether that is based on anything exact is unknown. The only sibling with a birth date is her eldest brother who was born in 1515. This suggests that a birth date for Helen after 1515 is a good guess, and it could even have been as much as 10 or so years later. She is assumed to have been born in Maybole, Ayrshire, Scotland as that was the main seat of the Kennedy's.

Her date of death is not certain beyond that it was after 24 Nov 1571. A date of 1575 has been proposed but the source for this is not known. Her location of death has been suggested as Genoch, Scotland or Genoch Ireland, probably not based on any source.
