Margaret (Kennedy) Kennedy Countess of Cassilis was born in Scotland.

Dame Margaret (Marjery) Sophia Kennedy was a daughter of Alexander Kennedy, Laird of Bargany and Mariot Dunbar of Mochrum. She was born in 1517 in Bargany-Dailly, Ayr, Scotland. Scotland.

She married first, Sir William Wallace before 1538 Craigie, Ayrshire, Scotland^[1][2] They had issue:

4. William Wallace 1545 - 1616
5. Helen Wallace, born 1538 in Ayrshire, Scotland; died 1623. She married in 1570 in Carleton, Ayrshire, Scotland John Cathcart, born 1540 in Carleton, Ayrshire, Scotland; died 1612, son of Robert Cathcart.

She married second, her cousin Gilbert Kennedy, 3rd. Earl of Cassilis, between 1539 and 1541^[2][3]. They had issue:
