Biography
4th son of Adam Sr
Conrad Kern, who used the name "Coonrod" on his will and other papers, presumably was named for his grandfather of Rowan County, N. C, but never saw him. He was born in Nicholas County, Ky., on April 25, 1797- Later he went into Monroe County, Ind., and lived near his father and was finally an executor of Adam. Sr.'s will and inherited his land.
Conrad married Mary (Polly) Campbell Berry on July 20, 1820. She was reputedly related to Alexander Campbell, one of the leaders of the church Reformation, and her obituary reports "she and her husband were converted under the ministration of Alexander Campbell." Polly was born Jan. 1, 1804 near Nashville, Tenn., probably the daughter of Joseph and Malsey Campbell Berry.
