Wilbur was a son of Charles Luther Kern and Ada Elizabeth Weaver. He married Gloria Kathryn Graff in 1950. They had three children. Wilbur passed away in 2003.

Wilbur L. Kern
Wilbur Leonard Kern, 84, of Winchester, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Kern was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Baltimore, Md., the son of Charles L. and Ada Weaver Kern.
He was a right-of-way agent for the Allegheny Power Company, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Winchester Exchange Club, American Legion, and Moose Club. He was a past member of Odd Fellows, and had played chimes at the Lutheran church every day for 45 years before his retirement.
He attended the University of Richmond and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps.
He married Gloria Graff on Dec. 27, 1950, in Winchester.
Surviving with his wife, are three daughters, Eileen F. Goodman of Fredericksburg, Claudia K. Eaton of Anderson, S.C., and Marian R. King of Winchester; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Rev. George Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, with military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Goodman, Kenneth Eaton, Andrew Eaton, Nicholas Eaton, Marc Goodman, and Donald Lange.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester 22601, or to the men's Bible Class at the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 77, Winchester 22601.[15]
