Walter Montgomery (Marietta's son), Grandson, Age 1, Born in Ohio
Marriage
William married Marietta Kerr on 24 Aug 1854 in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio. The marriage record states her maiden name is "Carr" we know this is incorrect based on the other source documentation. I've chosen to use "Kerr" as this is the surname of her father and his family.
1870 United States Federal Census, Newport Township, Washington County, Ohio. The Census was taken on 2 Aug 1870.
Listed as related to Head of Household
Jonathan, Head of House, Age 74, Born in Pennsylvania
In 1880 William is listed as being 40 and his wife is 38. William is listed as a Sawyer and has two sawmill hands residing with him. I have not been able to discover if William owned the sawmill or if he was hired as a manager. Members are listed as related to the Head of House. William is listed as being born in Ohio as well as his parents while his wife's parents were born in Pennsylvania with her being born in Ohio. It is more than likely that P. W. Carr, Henry Brooks and Jonathan Painter are related to William, but I haven't discovered how, if they are.
Henry Brooks (Sawmill Hand) Male, Age 18, Born in Missouri
Jonathan Painter (Sawmill Hand) Male, Age 22, Born in Pennsylvania
Mary's husband passed away on 14 Aug 1883. She then married Philip Reed on 24 Jan 1884 in Ritchie County. The marriage record states they were both widow at the time of their marriage.
