Biography

Agnes was born on December 4th, 1883, the daughter of David Kerr, a master mariner and Mary Ann McCalmont. Her birth was registered by Isabella Ross (also of Mullaghboy) who was present at the time. [1]

During the 1901 Census of Ireland, Agnes (age 17) was residing in a house 3 in Mullaghboy (Islandmagee, Antrim) with her Mother (her father was likely at sea), and sisters Jennie (age 25), Mary Ann (age 11), Pearl (age 8), Violet (age 8) and Jamesina (age 6).[2][3]

Agnes (age 27) was residing in a house 53 in Mullaghboy (Island Magee, Antrim) during the 1911 Census of Ireland with her mother (father again likely at sea) and sisters "Annie" (Mary Ann age 21), Pearl (age 19), Violet (age 19) and "Ena" (Jamesina age 17).[4][5]

On April 8th, 1913 Agnes married James Jones in the 2nd Presbyterian Church, in Islandmagee. James was recorded as full age, a bachelor and a master mariner residing in Islandmagee. Agnes was recorded as full age and a spinster residing in Islandmagee. The witnesses were Robert Fullerton and Ena Kerr.[6]

Agnes passed away on July 4th, 1980 (age 96). An official record cannot be found, yet. She is interred in the Jones family plot in Ballypriormore Cemetery, in Islandmagee.[7]
