Biography

Ann (Kerr) Auld was born in Ireland.

Ann was born in Carrickfergus in 1849. She was the daughter of Samuel Kerr and Elizabeth Scott.

She married widower farmer James Auld in 1876, 9 years after his first wife had died. Her elder sister Margaret was already married to James's uncle, James McFee. She became stepmother to James Auld's 3 surviving daughters (sadly Agnes would pass away 3 years later) and bore him 8 further daughters before finally, in 1891, giving him a much-sought son.

Two of their daughters, Ann and Robina passed away in 1896 and 1898 respectively, however the rest had respectably long lives.

Ann herself passed away in 1902. She was recorded on the 1901 census, her brother Andrew living with the family, probably as an extra (much needed male) farm hand.
