Biography

Jane Kerr was born on the 8th of October 1768 in South Carolina.

Jane married John Green about 1787 in Abbeville District, South Carolina.

Jane and John moved from Abbeville District South Carolina to Bibb County, Alabama.

Jane appears in the appropriate age bracket in the 1830 Federal census in Bibb County, Alabama in the household of John Green. John Green's household appears as follows: 2 males under age 5; 1 male age 5 thru 9; 1 male age 10 thru 14; 1 male age 15 thru 19; 2 males age 20 thru 29; 1 male age 60 thru 69; 1 female age under 5; 1 female age 20 thru 29; 1 female age 60 thru 69 and 10 slaves.[1]

Jane's husband John Green died on the 18th of March 1837.[2]

Jane appears in the appropriate age bracket in the 1840 Federal census in Bibb County, Alabama, in the household of her son John E. Green who was the administrator of his father's estate. John's household appears as follow: 1 male age 20 thru 29; 1 male age 30 thru 39; 1 female age 70 thru 79; and 21 slaves.[3]

Jane, age 82, appears in the 1850 Federal census in Bibb County, Alabama in the household of her son James H. Green.[4]

Jane and John Green were the parents of: (1) Samuel Kerr Green (2) Elizabeth B. Green; (3) Benjamin S. Green; (4) Ezekiel Calhoun Green; (5) Mary Calhoun Green; (6) Joscelin B. Green; (7) Lucinda Green; (8) John Ewing Green; (9) James H. Green; (10) Jane Caroline Green; and (11) George Sidney Green.[5]

Jane died on the 2nd of November 1855 in Bibb County Alabama. Jane was originally buried in Bibb County, Alabama. Jane's grave was later moved to Tannehill Historical State Park, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.[6]
