Biography

Moses Carr or Kerr was born in Co Down Ireland about 1796. [1]

In 1839 Moses and his second wife Isabella Bowden migrated to Port Phillip Victoria Australia on the Garrow to Sydney, where the whole ship was quarantined for some time due to disease, and then on another ship, the John Barry which was also carrying diseased passengers to Port Phillip. His occupation was given as Tailor, his age give as 42. His wife’s age was 24. They travelled with 4 children, one boy over 14 years, two boys aged between 7 and 17 and one boy under 7. Moses’s older children Alice, Mary Ann and John were on the same ship but being older were listed separately with their occupation. [2]

He died near Dandenong Victoria in 1862. [3]
