Biography

On 27 March 1740 in Orange County Court, Virginia, "John Carr made oath that he imported himself, Lucy his wife, Margaret Gilasby, Matthew Glasby, his wife's children, Jane, Wm:, Barbara, Lucy & Martha Carr, his children, at his own Charge from Ireland to Philadelphia & from thence into this Colony and that this is the first time of his proving his & their rights in order to obtain Land" in Virginia. The oath was ordered to be certified.[1]

February 1749: John Hind vs. John Kerr -- In consideration of marriage by plaintiff of Jane, daughter of defendant, defendant promised plaintiff land. Married 1749. Writ dated 4th December, 1749. Defendant refused to make conveyance and suit.

26 February 1749: John Kerr to John Hind, 100 acres in loop neck of Cathey's River near Thomas Story line. Dower released by Lucy, wife of John Kerr.

Page 228 - - 18th March, 1782. Jean (mark) Hind, ditto of her husband, John Hind, and nominates son, Wm. Hind. Teste: James Dickey, John Alexander.
