Biography

[1]Christianna Killian Barringer is the 11th child in the last will and testament of Andreas Killian. She was born February 20, 1755 on Killian’s Creek, Lincoln County, NC. Her husband John Barringer is named in Andreas’ Will.
We believe they married between 1773 and 1775. The Barringer family is rich in history. Christianna’s father-in-law was Johann Paulus Behringer, the pioneer who arrived in America, September 30, 1743, aboard the ship Phoenix. He went by the name Paul but is often referred to as John Paul. Christianna’s husband, John, is often referred to as John Senior. Christianna’s son is often referred to as John Junior.
Christianna’s father-in-law was a devout Lutheran and played a major role in the history of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Concord, NC. This church has very strong ties to the Barringers and is where Christianna is buried.
John and Christianna lived in Mecklenburg County, NC, until 1792 when the land they lived on became Cabarrus County. John served as Captain in the Revolutionary Army.
We believe Christianna and John had the following children:
Leah Barringer (born about 1775, married John Beaver)
Paul Barringer (born March 12, 1776, married Anna Margaret Elizabeth Peck)
George Barringer (born September 28, 1777, married 1:Elizabeth Mensinger; 2: :Elizabeth Culp; 3: Susannah Catherine Bost; 4: Catherine Reed)
John Barringer, Junior (born September 20, 1779, married Anna Catherine Moyer)
Catherine Barringer (born between 1781-1786, married George Quilman)
Jacob Barringer (born July 08, 1784, married Sarah Baust/Bost)
Elizabeth “Betsey” Barringer (born October 18, 1780, married John Peck)
Mary “Polly” Barringer (born about 1788, married James Lee)
Daniel Barringer (born June 14, 1790, married Mary “Pollly” Cress)
Sarah Barringer (born January 10, 1797/1798, married Jacob House)

Christianna Killian was born on Killian’s Creek, Lincoln County, North Carolina on 22 February 1755, daughter of Andreas Killian. Her mother is believed to be Andreas's 2nd wife Mary.[7]

"Andreas Killian married (2) Mary [Beaver or Cline] in the 1750s: a memorial tombstone for their son Daniel has the birth year 1752."[8]
"Andreas and Mary (his second wife) were said to have had four children: Daniel (b c1752), Samuel (b c1756), Christianna (b 20 Feb. 1755), and Elizabeth (b c1760)."[9]

Christianna is named as wife of John Barringer in her father's 1785 will: "I give to my son-in-law John Barringer husband of my daughter Christina ([Christianna Catrina]) one seventh part of my unbequeathed personal estate."[10]

"...[I] Give to my son-in-law John Barringer, hu[sband of my daugh-
ter] Christianna one-seventh part of any [unbequeathed]..."

Her husband, John, "is often referred to as John Senior" and their son as John Junior. John Senior's father, Johann Paulus Behringer, "went by the name Paul but is often referred to as John Paul." He was "the pioneer who arrived in America, September 30, 1743, aboard the ship Phoenix."[7]

John and Christianna (Killian) Barringer "lived in Mecklenburg County, NC, until 1792 when the land they lived on became Cabarrus County."[7]

John served as Captain in the Revolutionary Army. Christianna died 16 July 1832, Cabarrus, N.C.

Research Notes

The transcription of Andreas Killian's will quoted above (posted by AKDHA) adds "Catrina", but the AKDHA biography of Catherine notes that Catherine, who married (1) Dobson, (2) Pritchett (spelled Prithet & Pritchet in the will), is "not to be confused with Christianna Killian Barringer."[12]

Killian-482 and Killian-42 appear to represent the same person because: sorry for not catching this earlier. These profiles represent the same person. (Please note that Catrina is a different person, so that other name should be dropped in the merged profile - see text on Killian-482.)

Hi Pat! Brina = Catrin/Catherine, who is wife of James Pritchard in will.

Wife of Barringer is transcribed as Christina (Catrin) in the will transcription posted by AKDHA, but it should have been Christina (Christianna) - the bio for Catherine aka Trina/Brina clearly says don't confuse her with Christianna Barringer.

In re-reading the biographies posted by AKDHA, it looks as if neither is the daughter of Margarethe - Catherine's AKDHA says they believe she was born between 1746 and 1753. They have Christianna born February 20, 1755:

If no objection, I'll merge/edit all these duplicates so that Andreas gets back down to his 12 children.

Hi

Can you please attend to the merge request on this profile Thanks Susan

Killian-373 and Killian-42 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate
update: please see AKDHA, which has heard of Barringer - husband of Chritianna, 11th child of Andreas (by Mary Cline). Her sister Trina married Dobson & Prichard (various spellings). So this profile (Killian-504) and the other profile you entered for Brina (now showing as Christina - Killian-482) are for the two sisters. But at this point (Sept. 3, 2015), their information is oddly melded. Please use information available from AKDHA at http://www.andreaskillian.com/killian_christianna.shtml and http://www.andreaskillian.com/killian_catherine.shtml to sort them out.

(first half of original post deleted - following revised)

See http://www.andreaskillian.com/ak_typed_will.shtml for transcription of will that includes the incorrect "Brina" (for Trina, see her page at AKDHA) and "I give to my son-in-law John Barringer husband of my daughter Christina (Catrina) one seventh part of my unbequeathed personal estate."
