Biography

Rachel was a daughter of Robert Kimball and Susanna Atwood. She first married Samuel Ayer in 1726, with whom she had one son Samuel on 13 Feb 1727. Husband Samuel died in Haverhill at age 30. She remarried James Eaton, June 13, 1728. They raised a family in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Six of their children are known to have married. Their son David (1729-1803) received a grant of land to farm in Kings County, Nova Scotia. He settled there in 1761 and raised a family with first wife Deborah White. Second son Capt. Timothy Eaton (1731-1811), also born in Haverhill, was active in the American Revolution.
