Biography

Margaret Kimbrough was born in 1715 in New Kent County Virginia. [1] She is most likely the daughter of John Kimbrough, born circa 1661 in England, and Elizabeth Bradley, born circa 1663 in England.

An Edgecombe Co NC deed dtd 7 Nov 1735 between William Winston and Rebecca his wife of Hanover Co VA to Marmaduke Kimbrough of Hanover Co VA for 5 sh and 1 ear of Indian corn 1170A on SS Morratuck (Roanoak) River. Wit: Buckley Kimbrough, Robert Harris, Richard Harris. [2]

She married Richard Harris, who was born January 21, 1709/1710, circa 1728 in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Virignia.

Edgecombe Pct., NC, DB 1, p. 334, 24 Oct 1739: "Marmaduke Kimbrough of Edge. Co. to Margaret Harris and her husband Richard Harris late of Hanover Co., VA. for the love I bear unto my youngest sister and her husband 100 acres during their natural lives, joining the land whereon the Harris dwellinghouse now standeth, the sd. Harris to work no hands on the sd. land except his own slaves part of a patent to Captain John Gaddis in 1722. Wit: Robert Harris, Benjamin Darny (?) Reg. May Ct. 1740." [3]

She died in Granville County, North Carolina.

Note

Marmaduke Kimbrough was the brother of Mary Kimbrough Wilkins, wife of John Wilkins who witnessed Thomas Robinson's Brunswick Co VA 1745 deed. Marmaduke's youngest sister married Richard Harris. Robert Harris was the father of Richard Harris

I don't have any proof that John Kimbrough of New Kent Co., VA, is the father of Margaret (Kimbrough) Harris, but there is proof from an Edgecombe Co., NC, deed that proves Margaret is the sister of Marmaduke Kimbrough.
