Biography

Sarah Jane White is the daughter of Josiah White and Nancy Barkley

Sarah White was born September 5, 1827.

Sarah married Jeremiah R. Kendle on October 8, 1844 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi.[1]

Sarah married William Mathews Knowles on 9 Oct 1854 in Drew county, Arkansas [2]. William and Sarah had nine children, one of whom died young but has a cemetery record. The 1860 Census shows Rufus, a child from William's first marriage, her children from her first marriage, and two children together with William [3]. The 1880 Census shows the remaining six children with Sarah, plus his third wife Louisa America Brown (nee Taylor), whom he married on 3 Nov 1872 in Possum Valley, Drew, Arkansas, United States [4] and their three children [5].
