Biography

Mary was born 19 Feb 1849, at Sydney, New South Wales. She was the daughter of Richard King and his wife Sarah.[1]

Richard King was, apparently, the brother to Stephen King, one of the early cedar cutters in the Northern Rivers district of New South Wales. Richard obtained land in the district and settled there with his brother.

She married Joseph McGuire, son of another early cedar cutter, Joseph McGuire and his wife Maria Johnson in 1869.[2]

She died, at Ballina, New South Wales, on 25 Feb 1884 and is remembered at the Ballina Pioneer Cemetery.

Family and Legacy

The family appears to have lived in the Casino area of northern New South Wales. They appear to have had a number of children:

Joseph McGuire; b. Aug 1371, ch. 13 Aug 1871, at Casino, New South Wales.[3] He died 1892.[4]
Richard Walter McGuire; b. Aug 1875, ch. 5 Sep 1875, at Casino, New South Wales.[5]
Charles Stephen McGuire; b. 1877.[6] He married Sarah Ann King in 1903.[7] They had two children; Bernice and Eric. Charles died 10 Jun 1948 at Ballina.
Florence Ann Mcguire; b. 1879.[8] She married Seymour F. Anderson in 1898.
Sarah Elizabeth McGuire; b. 1881.[9]
Robert E. McGuire; b. 1883. [10]
