Biography

Otis Sterling King was born on October 1, 1910 in Carroll County, Georgia, USA to William Thomas King and Annie Ardelia McGuire King.

On the 1920 Census, he was listed in the household of his father, William T. King, in Smithfield, Carroll County, Georgia, USA. Also listed in the household was his mother, Ardelia, and siblings: Mabel, Melvin, Olin, Raymond, and Leonard. He was a student. According to the census, he was eight years old. According to the census, he and his parents were born in Georgia.[1]

On the 1930 census, he was listed in the household of his father, W. T. King. Others in the household were his mother, Ardelia, and siblings: Mabel, Melvin, Olin, Raymond, Myrtle, Arnold, Q. P., Huland, and Willard. The family lived in Buncombe, Haralson County, Georgia, USA. He was listed as a 19 year old single, white male. He was not a student, and he could read and write. The census listed Sterling and his parents as being born in Georgia. [2]

On 8 Mar 1933, Sterling married Mildred Price in Carroll County, Georgia.[3]

On the 1940 Census, he was the head of household. He lived in Buncombe, Haralson County, Georgia, USA with his wife, Mildred, and three daughters. He was listed as a 29 year old, married, white male. His occupation was listed as a farmer, and his birthplace was listed as Georgia.[4]

On 16 Oct 1940, he registered for the World War II Draft in Haralson County, Georgia. His current address was listed as R.F.D. #2, Waco, Haralson County, Georgia. His date of birth was 10 Oct 1910, and his birthplace was Carroll County, Georgia. Mrs. Otis Sterling King was listed as his next of kin. His description was listed as 5'11", 140 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion. He was also listed as having a gold tooth on the left and right of his front teeth.[5]
