Biography

Deborah King was born 9 Dec 1750. Her birth location probably was in one of the Nine Partners land patents located in present day Dutchess County, New York.

She married 31 May 1772 @ Armenia, New York, Rev. Joseph Avery. They had 8 children:

  1. Samuel Avery (1773-1849); married Rebecca Langdon
  2. Elisha Avery, b. 29 Jul 1775 @ New London, Connecticut; d. 17 Dec 1795
  3. Rebecca (Avery) Langdon (1779-1869)
  4. Elizabeth (Avery) Langdon (1782-1863); married Seth Langdon
  5. Sally (Avery) Alden (1784-1846)
  6. Ancy (or Ansey) Avery, b. 16 Oct 1788 @ Alford, Connecticut; d. Mar 1850 @ Barre, Massachusetts
  7. Joseph Babcock Avery, b. 4 Sep 1791 @ Tyringham, Massachusetts; married Armena Churchill; d. 17 Nov 1881
  8. Mary "Polly" Avery, b. 20 Jul 1794 @ Tyringham, Massachusetts; married ___ Hood; d. 4 Aug 1857 @ Holly, New York

This was the family of a traveling missionary minister, with various residences in New York and western Massachusetts.

Deborah (King) Avery passed away 20 Jun 1830 in Bergen, New York.

Research Notes

Samuel King and Rebecca (Thompson) King have been removed as the parents of Deborah due to the lack of sources confirming their identity as parents. North American Family Histories for Deborah King states she was the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Mead) King of Nine Partners, N.Y.[1]

Rebecc (King) Pike is listed as the more likely daughter.
