Joanna was previously attached as a child of Philip King. While Philip may have had a daughter with that name, there is no record of it despite claims to the contrary, including in his will. John Alger is named as a son-in-law by Philip's brother Thomas King in a deed.[1] "Joanna" signed her name with that spelling in another deed.[2]
The places that give her a full birth and death date, which appear to be internet fabrications, don't give credible source citations. A review of available records revealed nothing to support either date.
"Johanah" King married John Alger on 9 April 1702 in Taunton.[3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joanna by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joanna:
This is a caveat about her birth and death dates. I've done a lot of research on the King family and have found nothing to support either dates, beginning with the Taunton vital records. Her sister Hannah's wikitree profile says she was born on the same day and month, but in 1681 rather than 1682. That date is also not supported in any historical records I've seen. I know Find A Grave claims this death date, but this isn't a credible source unless the contributor provides one, which they don't. I've found nothing to suggest she has or had a gravestone there, and given that their home was in Swansea late in life and most if not all of her children settled there or in neighboring Rehoboth, I don't see a good reason to put her death not only on the given date, but in Taunton. I welcome evidence otherwise.
Joanna was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Sprague) King, not his brother Philip King. Thomas and Mary King sold to their "beloved son in law John Alger" land in Dighton, MA. Also, Thomas King, Jr., sold his right to the land to Alger. See Bristol Co., MA, deeds 8:115-116.
King-14611 and King-4327 are not ready to be merged because: Birth dates need to proven. Death date does not correlate. Fathers are not the same. We need more research. NEW ENGLAND VITALS NEED TO BE FOUND.
King-14611 and King-4327 appear to represent the same person because: Same name & Husband. King-14611 has no sources and seems to be the less researched.
