Biography

Charity was born May 24, 1895 in Carroll County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Joseph B. King and Susan Clay King.

On the 1900 Census, she was listed as a five year old, white female living in Smithfield, Carroll County, Georgia with her parents and siblings: John T. King, Martha A. King, Charles A. King, Mary E. King, Hosea C. King, William D. King, and Joseph L. King. Her birthplace was listed as Georgia, as were the birthplaces of her parents. [1]

The following article appeared in the Carroll Free Press; Carrollton, Carroll County, GA; 21 Oct 1915; Page 4, about the marriage of Hosmer Pounds and Arvella King:

Miss Arvella King and Mr. Hosmer Pounds were quietly married on Monday, Oct. 11th.

The bride is one of Carroll County's attractive young ladies and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe King, who were formerly residents of Haralson County. The groom is a well known young man of Tallapoosa. They are receiving the many congratulations of their many friends.

She passed away October 19, 1987 in Georgia.
