Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Francis King was a Virginia colonist.

Francis was likely born in approximately 1589 to Captain John King and Ann Daniel of Chestershire, England.[1] He passed away about 1653 in Virginia Colony.

He married Dorothy Aston of Sir Walston Aston. He later married Elizabeth Brooke.[2]

Immigration to Virginia

Fra. Kinge was listed as a headright for Capt. Giles Brent in a patent recorded 4 May 1653. Most online family trees believe that Fra. Kinge is this Francis King.[3] [4]

Francis King/Kinge is said to have purchased land in 1668 in Stafford County, Virginia. (Source for this has not yet been located.)

Research Notes

"William" has been removed as first name for Francis. No record yet located uses "William." Only "Francis" is found in sources. If documentation is found proving the use of "William" as given name, it can be restored. (Strutton-11 14:36, 12 July 2022 (UTC))

King-13616 and King-2491 appear to represent the same person because: same birthdate/place; same death location, death date needs to be reconciled and sourced; both married to Dorothy Aston, Elizabeth Brooke. First name needs to be reconciled. Middle names such as "William Francis" were uncommon at that time. Records so far located give name as "Francis," no middle name.
Wondering how their son Michael is connected to them...he was from Norfolk, and they from Cheshire.

I'm sorry but I rederred you to the wrong wikitree. It should have been King-Family-Tree-5746.

See perhaps William Francis King--with the same dates and partially the same info.

I suspect that this Wm Francis King is my Francis King--with the same dates and info--and supposedly the father of my Robert King. Now, Robert King, father of Dorothy King Waller, seems to be all on his own on wikitree. Can they be the same folks? I think maybe so.
