Ada was christened at St. Paul's church, Deptford on 6th May 1896, where Thomas, her father, is described as a waterman and lighterman. [2]
The 1901 census showed Ada with her parents and 5 siblings, Ada is aged 4 [3]
In 1911, the family were still in Hughes Fields, and Ada was shown on the census aged 14, working as a cardboard box maker for a company that produced surgical Instruments. [4]
Ada married Francis John Winton, on 8th April 1917, but they were apart for some while, as Francis went off to war. [5]
Their first child was born in 1919, when they lived in Elm Terrace, New Cross.
The 1921 census showed the family living at 7, Elm Terrace, Deptford

By 1926, they were living in 32, Mornington Road, where Ada continued to live for the rest of her life, and they raised their 6 children.
When the 1939 Register was taken they were still living at 32, Mornington Road, Deptford, London, [7] the entry reads:
Francis J Winton, dob 29 Dec 1891, sheet metal worker, married
Ada E Winton, dob 19 Apr 1896, general housewife, married
Ada was a local councillor in Deptford for nearly 15 years, and a member of the local women's guild for over 30 years. [8]
Ada died on the 20th September 1959, at the Homeopathic Hospital, Holborn, of congestive cardiac failure, and was cremated at Honor Oak crematorium. [9]
