William King was born in Orangeburg District, S. C., in 1788, a son o f William King, R.S. His parents moved to Georgia in his youth and set

tled in Bulloch County. He was married in Emanuel County about 1820 t o Nancy Sweat, born 1798 in Bulloch County, a daughter of Nathan Sweat , R.S., (Vol.I). They had the following known children:

1. Sallie b. 1824, m. John S. Henderson, Feb. 1840.

2. Lavina b. 1826, m. (unknown).

3. William H. b. 1831, m. Hester Dryden, dau. of John.

4. Andrew J. b. 1835, died single in C.S. Army.

5. Ziba b. 1838, m. Ist. Fannie Tanley; 2nd. Florida Brewer.

Mr. King and his family and his parents moved to Ware County about 1827. He was a private in the Indian War in Capt. James A. Sweat's company of Ware County militia, June 9th to Aug. 19, 1838. He served as Coroner of Ware County, 1858-1861, and died the next year after completing his term.

The son, Andrew J. King, enlisted July 10, 1861, in Co. "L", 26th Georgia Infantry Regiment under Capt. Cary W. Styles, and was appointed 5th Sergeant of the company Sept. 4, 1861. He was badly wounded in the pelvis at the battle at Court-house, Va., in May 1864, but recovered only to be killed a month later, June 18, 1864, in the battle at Petersburg, Va.

William was born about 1788.
