Biography

Hamilton King was born in August 1851 in Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, New York to Benjamin King and Polly Kebby. He was one of 10 children. His father was a farmer. [1] [2] [3] [4]

In 1875, Hamilton lived with his brother, Van Rensselaer King, in Yorkshire. The household included Van Rensselaer's family and their parents. [5]

Hamilton was a laborer on the farm of Burton Slocum in Farmersville, Cattaraugus, New York in 1880. [6]

In about 1883, Hamilton married Nellie Locke. Hamilton, Nellie, and their two children, Vern and Pearl, lived in Yorkshire in 1892. Hamilton was a laborer. [7]

Hamilton and Nellie lived in Machias, Cattaraugus, New York in 1900 with 14-year-old Vern, and 16-year-old Pearl. He was a laborer at the ice house. [8][9]

In 1910, Nellie and Hamilton, a farmer, resided in Yorkshire, along with their son, Vern, age 23. Nellie, age 46, and Hamilton, age 59, had been married 27 years. Nellie had given birth to three children, but only Vern was still alive at the time of the 1910 United States Census. The third child, as of yet unidentified, was born between 1900 and 1910. [10]

Hamilton and Nellie lived on their dairy farm in Yorkshire in 1920. [11] Nellie died in March 1922.

Hamilton died on April 19, 1923 from heart failure while visiting his brother, Asa King, in Machias, Cattaraugus, New York. [12] [13]
