THE MAITLAND CIRCUIT COURT. Divorce Proceedings. (Before Mr. Justice Simpson.)
HARRIS v HARRIS
This was an action in which Fanny Harris, formerly King, sought a dissolution of her marriage with W. J. Harris, on the grounds of desertion and adultery. Mr. B. Windeyer, instructed by Mr. W.H. Baker, appeared for the petitioner. The respondent was not present.
The parties were married on 28th April,1862, at the Wesleyan Church, Newcastle, and they lived together till 1874, first at Lake Road, and afterwards at Wallsend. Respondent had been away for years, and evidence of conduct with a girl named Alice Clough was proved.
After Mrs. Ciarke had given evidence, His Honor granted the petition with all costs against the respondent, and made a decree nisi returnable in one month.
