Mary King's son Capt. Samuel Gardiner married Elizabeth Coit, daughter of Mehetabel Chandler and John Coit. So niece of stepmother Sarah Chandler. New book out this year on Mehetabel Chandler Coit's diaries, evidently the oldest extant diaries of an American woman. The author just turned up hundreds of letters belonging to Mehetabel's mother, Elizabeth Douglas Chandler which we hope contains much more history. Still in family hands.

Mary King's daughter Mary married Dr. Ebenezar Gray. After her death, Gray married Molly Prentis Coit (my 6th grgrandmother) and raised her son Dr. Thomas Coit II.

See what I mean about constant looping between these families?

John Coite the Welsh immigrant arrived Salem between 1630 and 1634, so same time as Samuel King.

Christie, glad you asked because in searching, I found a weird "loop" in my tree that I need to work out. On the one hand, it says the line descends through Samuel's daughter Mary - son John Gardiner - daughter Mary Gardiner who married Dr. Thomas Coit II, then on down through the Chandler/Coits until me. But I'm not sure now if this Mary Gardiner wasn't the daughter of David-David-David-Lyon. In any case, John Gardiner's second wife was Sarah Chandler, my 7th grgrandmother as well is her sister Mehetabel. Then Mary King's daughter Elizabeth was the first wife of Thomas Greene, who married her cousin Martha Coit (dtr Mehetabel) after she died. Elizabeth's daughter Mary Greene married Daniel Hubbard who was Martha Coit's son by her first husband. This family loops back in dozens of times.
