Captain Edmund King was born circa 1744, in Virginia and died prior to July 7, 1817, in Franklin county, Georgia. Captain King served as an officer in the State Militia during the American Revolutionary War, entering the service from his residence in Halifax county, Virginia. [1]
DAR records identify only the maiden name of Captain King's first wife as "Beavers." He subsequently married Elizabeth Woodson Thomas. Applications for membership in the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been made by descendants of his sons, Robert King, who married Sarah Lacy, and Edmund King, Jr., who married Nancy Ragan, and by his daughters Joicy King, who married William Bush, and Elizabeth M. King, who married Darby Henley.
