Biography

1818 Found not guilty of stealing wheat at Oxford.

Convicted 4th August 1821 Oxfordshire Assises - Sheep stealing. Sentence-Life 1822 Arrival on the "Prince of Orange" to Hobart.
Was a convict stonemason.

Worked for McPherson, Church Lane Bampton west Oxfordshire. Apprenticed to Edward Pittipos near the Market Place, Bampton-in-the-Bush. Last worked for John Walton, Oxford.
Sheep Stealing from Robert Scaury at Bampton. Tried for Stealing Wheat at Oxford about 5 years ago - acquitted. [1]

1834 Mary Ann begins having James's children.

1837 While still a convict James applies to marry Mary Ann but is denied as his earlier marriage to Ann, in England is recorded.

1838 Conditional Pardon.

22 Feb 1952 James, Mary Ann and family travel to Melbourne on SS City of Melbourne. (attached)
