Biography

European Aristocracy
Rt Hon Byron King was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Byron Noel King was the son of William King (from 1860, King-Noel), the 8th Lord King, Baron of Ockham and Augusta Ada Byron, the daughter of the poet Lord Byron. [1] He was born on the 12 May 1836 in the parish of St James Westminster, [1] He was baptised on the 26th of June 1836 at Ockham, Surrey, England. [2] [3]

On 30 June 1838, his father was created Earl of Lovelace in Queen Victoria's Coronation Honours list, with a courtesy title of Viscount Ockham of Ockham for the Earl's heir which was immediately bestowed on Byron. [4]

In 1860, Byron's maternal grandmother, Anne Isabella, the Baroness Wentworth died. Under the terms of inheritance of the lands and property of Thomas Noel the Second Viscount Wentworth, the heirs to this property (William and Ada's children) had to assume the name Noel. Byron, his father and his brother all changed their names to King-Noel by Royal Licence dated 29 September 1860. [5] Byron, as the next heir of his grandmother, inherited the title of Baron Wentworth.

Byron died on 1 September 1862 aged 26 at Wimbledon Hill, from a burst blood vessel. As he was unmarried, both his titles of Baron Wentworth and Viscount Ockham descended to his brother Ralph. [4][6]
