DOROTHY KINNE, born at Preston, Connecticut, 10 Jan 1754 daughter of Joseph Kinne and Sarah Blunt;[1] Dorothy died at Chester, Massachusetts, 11 Dec 1829;[2] married at Worthington, Massachusetts, 26 May 1769,[3] TIMOTHY LYMAN, born at Northampton, 31 Dec 1744 son of Elias Lyman and Anne Phelps;[4] Timothy died at Chester, 11 Oct 1815.[5]
Timothy and his brother Stephen Lyman traveled together to Murrayfield (later Chester, Massachusetts) in 1763. Timothy and Stephen were first settlers of Chester and Stephen Lyman was one of the first deacons at the church at Chester.[6] Timothy and his brother Stephen occupied adjacent farms in Chester.[7]
In 1790, the household of Timothy Lyman was eight persons at Chester: two males 16 and over, two males under 16, and four females.[8]
In his will written 17 December 1806 (probate 7 November 1815), Timothy Lyman bequeathed to his sons Timothy, Jr. and Asahel all the wearing apparel. Wife Dorothy receives all the household furniture, forever, and one-half the improvement of the real estate while she is a widow. Each of his daughters receives one dollar with what they received at marriage completes their portions: Susanna wife of Joseph Clap, Theodosia wife of Jasper Brewster, Achsa wife of Dr. William Coleman, and Dorothy wife of Edward Taylor, Jr. The remainder of the estate goes to son Timothy who is to provide comfortable support to Dorothy. Timothy was also named executor.[9]
Dorothy Kinne and Timothy Lyman were parents of six children born at Chester.[10]
