Based on analysis of the Quaker records (South River Monthly Meeting) and the naming of a son Richard (also sons Joseph and William) in the 1781 Will of Richard Kirby (Jr.) in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, it is probable that this Richard who settled at Pacolet in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, near his relative John Kirby, is the same Richard mentioned as the son in the Will and in the 1782 request along with his brother Joseph to continue under care of the same Quaker Meeting. Thus, WikiTree profile Kerby-24 for Richard, Jr., would be the father of this Richard. Judith is probably his mother but that is less certain (only Joseph was mentioned in her father's 1771 Will). See Kerby-24 for supporting source citations.
