John Corbett Kirby was born in 1898 in Alabama, his father, Benjamin Kirby, was 29 and his mother, Mary Stain, was 26. John Corbett entered the service on May 29, 1917 served in the army as a private with company G 37th Infantry. After the service John Corbett married Fannie Jewel Stoval in the year of 1928 (1930 Cencus). He had one daughter with Fannie Jewel Stovall. He died on March 18, 1932, in Villa Rica, Georgia, at the age of 34, and was buried in Douglasville, Georgia. John Corbett Kirby died March 18th 1932 from a gun shot wound, and interred at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Douglasville, Douglas County, Georgia, USA

A World War I Veteran, Corbett was a farmer. His final breath was taken at the home of his father. He took the life of his wife, then took his own life with a gun shot through the heart, instant death. (pistol) Physician BC Powell noted that time of death on the death certificate was 3:30pm.
Survived by a four year old daughter named Dorothy. She went to live with her mother's parents. Predeceased by a stillborn child that they buried in a shoebox in the country. The family thought he experienced shell shock from World War I. Buried in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Undertaker Cleghorn Brothers.
