Mary "Polly" Kirk is the daughter of Samuel H. Kirk and Mary Ann Lamb

On March 10, 1830, Mary married Reverend Samuel Beene, son of Obadiah Franklin Beene (1785 - 1840) and Barbara (Heifner) Beene (1791 - 1874)

AUNT POLLY BEENE

An Old Landmark Gone to Her Rest

News has just been received that on yesterday afternoon, at Jasper, Tennessee, Aunt Polly Beene breathed her last. She was known far and wide, and leaves a large circle of mourning friends and relatives.

Her maiden name was Kirk and she was left a widow about four years ago. She was 89 years of age at the time of her death. She died at the home of one of her daughters, Mrs. Moses Walker. She leaves another married daughter and several children in Texas. She was a devoted member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Her late husband was Elder Sam Beene, who was for forty years before his death a minister of the Primative Baptist Church. She was buried at the old family burying ground at Sweden's Cove at 12 o'clock today. The officiating minister was Elder A.J.Willis. ^[1]
