Richard Kirkham was born in Lancashire, England.

Richard was born in Penworthy, Lancashire, England, in 1874. ^[1] His birth was registered in the first quarter in Preston. He was the son of Henry Kirkham and Elizabeth Hardman. He was enumerated in the 1881 census ^[2] residing with his parents and eight siblings in Penwortham. His siblings ranged in age from twenty to three years old. His father declared his occupation as "Mechanic".

Richard married Agnes Jane Rimmer in 1901.^[3] The marriage was registered in the first quarter in Preston. Richard and Agnes were enumerated in the 1901 census ^[4] residing in Penwortham. He declared his occupation as "Blacksmith". In 1911, the couple were still in Penwortham, and had one son, Henry.^[5] It is unknown if the couple had more children.

Richard passed away in 1931.^[6] His death was registered in the third quarter in Preston. He was fifty seven.
