She passed away in 1938.^[6] Her grave is only marked M C Cross, but it lies next to B R Cross, so it is assumed that M C Cross is Mary Kirkland Cross. Burial was in the Oak City Cemetery, Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia.^[7][8]

Note: There is a discrepancy on the actual day of death. The tombstone was inscribed July 12th, but death records claim it was July 26th.
