John Bowman Klepper was born on November 6, 1824, in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of Jacob Klepper and Catherine (Bowman) Klepper and is of German/Swiss ancestry. He married Mary Ann Biddle on December 24, 1845, in Washington, Tennessee.[1]and they had four children. His occupation in Tennessee was Farmer, where he farmed his 110 acre farm. In 1861 -1865 he received Confederate Papers of Citizens or Business.[2]

Death
He died on July 6, 1915, in Limestone, Tennessee, at the age of 90, [3] and was buried there in the Telford Cemetery, Washington County, Tennessee. [4] Cause of death as noted on the death certificate was "Heart failure and general debility due to old age."
