Biography

Moses Knapp, son of Caleb and Hannah (Smith) Knapp, was born about 1666 at Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut.[1]

Moses married Elizabeth Crissey on 30 October 1689.[1]

Moses died in 1753 in Danbury, Fairfield, Connecticut.[1]

Children of Moses and Elizabeth are the following: [1]

  1. Elizabeth Knapp b. 7 September 1690 Stamford, Connecticut, married Samuel Benedict.
  2. James Knapp b. c. 1700, d before 1735, married Patience Andrews.
  3. Moses Knapp b. c. 1705, d September 17 1751/1752, married (1) Jemima Willard or Weed, married (2) Sarah Warner.
  4. Ebenezer Knapp b. 1706, d March 31 1784, married (1) Elizabeth Benedict-Finch, married (2) E. Smith.
  5. Sarah Knapp baptized in 1712, married Gerald Turney (spelling ?).
THE LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF MOSES KNAPP, of Danbury, Fairfield Co, Connecticut:
In the name of God, AMEN, the Eighth Day of August 1752. I Moses Knap of Danbury in Fairfield County and Colony of connecticut in New England.
I constitute make and ordain my beloved wife Elizabeth Knap and my loving Son Ebenezer Knap my dual Executors of this my last will and testament.
At a court of probate here in Danbury for the district of Danbury April 16, A.D. 1753, Mr Benajah Cass personally appeared before this court and made solomn oath as he saw Moses Knapp the testation to be within will.
Jost Thad Benedict Clerk, at a Court of Probate held in Danbury for the District of Danbury Dcember 3d 1753, John Wilkes and Tho Knap two of the witnesses to the within will personally appeared before this court.[2]
