Biography
Isabella Emblen Knight was born in 1884 in Abbotsbury, Dorset, England to James Hansford Knight and Elizabeth Emblen (Mundy) Knight. Her birth was registered in Weymouth, Dorset in the last quarter of the year - her mother's maiden name was listed as Corben, which was actually her first married name.[1] She was christened in Abbotsbury on 23 Nov 1884.[2]
In 1891 Isabella Knight (age 6, Scholar) lived at Rodden Row in Abbotsbury with her father James H Knight (50, Blacksmith & Inn Keeper), mother Elizabeth Knight (46), three older half-siblings: Sarah Knight (27), Lucy Knight (22), and Walter Corbon (13, Scholar), and younger sister Elizabeth Knight (4, Scholar).[3]
Isabella's father passed away in 1894.
In 1901 Bella Knight (age 16) lived at Western Town in Abbotsbury with her mother Elizabeth E Knight (56, Retired Public House Keeper), half-sister Mary L Corben (25, Dressmaker), and sister Bessie Knight (14, Dressmaker's Apprentice), as well as her nephew Hubert J Corben (2).[4]
In 1911 Isabella Knight (age 26) lived in South Manchester, Lancashire with her married half-sister Sarah Anderson (45), brother-in-law David Anderson (44, Upholsterer Furniture Maker), and David's brother William Anderson (46, Pattern Card Maker).[5]
Isabella E Knight married Arthur Thelwell in 1917. The marriage was registered in Chorlton, Lancashire in the second quarter of the year.[6]
Isabella E Thelwell passed away in Oct 1929, aged 43 years. Her death was registered in Manchester South in the last quarter of the year.[7] She was buried at Southern Cemetery in Chorlton-cum-Hardy on 7 Oct 1929.[8]
