Biography

Edmund Knight Jr. was born at Newbury, Massachusetts on November 8, 1744, son of Edmund Sr. and Jane (Little) Knight. [1]

He married first at Newbury, on December 24, 1767, Sarah Hale. Sarah was born at Newbury on February 5, 1744, daughter of Benjamin and Judith (Swett) Hale. [1]

His wife Sarah died in February, 1785. [1]

He married second, on Nov. 9, 1786, Mary Coffin. Mary daughter of Richard and Abigail Coffin, was born 26 August, 1743. [1] [2]

Edmund died at Newbury on September 21, 1813. [1]

When his estate was inventoried, in included land holdings valued at $4920.00 and personal property valued at $ 967.58. [3]

In his will written on March 1, 1813, he left bequests to:

  • his wife Mary
  • daughter Sarah Knight
  • son Paul Knight
  • son Enoch Knight
  • son Hale Knight
  • son Charles Knight
  • daughter Jane Little Noyes
  • son Joseph Knight, sole executor [3]
