Biography

Ezekial was born about 1618. He was at Salem, Massachusetts, in 1637, and Braintree, Massachusetts, in 1641. He was one of the first settlers of Wells, Maine, in 1643.

He was married four times:

  1. Elizabeth (Unknown), died at Braintree in 1642
  2. Ann (UNKNOWN, who was living in 1655
  3. Esther (Eaton) Lovering, widow of John Lovering (d. 1668), who had died by 1675
  4. Mary (Eaton) Hill, daughter of Gov. Theophilus Eaton and widow of Valentine Hill, died 24 Apr 1708 at Dover, New Hampshire.

Ezekiel Knight died in 1687.[1]

He died at Dover between 18 Apr and 16 Sep 1689 (dates will made and proved). His will leaves a life estate to his wife and names his son Ezekiel and his daughter Elizabeth Wentworth.

On August 20, 1645 Ezekiel Knight of Wells, Maine sold his present dwelling house to John Sanders, along with all the outbuildings and lands he owned in Wells, Maine. Ann, his wife, made her mark. Rev. John Wheelwright was a witness to the transaction.[2]

On April 12, 1653 Ezekiel Knight was living in Wells, Maine. Later in 1654 he was on a jury in York County, Maine and in 1663 he was one of the associates. In 1674 both Ezekiel Knight and his son Ezekiel were living in York County, Maine.[2]

Children of Ezekiel and Elizabeth

  1. Ezechiel b. December 1, 1640 and died July 29, 1641.[3]

Elisabeth the wife of Ezechiel Knight was buried February 28, 1642.[3]

Knight-4390 and Knight-4275 appear to represent the same person because: they share similar vital statistics (the exact same death date) and the same daughter Elizabeth. The difference in places of death needs to be rectified.
