Biography

Ezekiel was born in 1780. He married Elizabeth Flinn/Flynn, 08 Apr 1812 in Guilford, North Carolina. [1]

Ezekiel Knight may have married Elizabeth Flinn/Flynn shortly before mustering in for duty for the War of 1812. He joined the Stokes County Regiment, Sixth Company in 1812. I have this information in Ancestry but not a "legitimate" citation, in my eyes anyway, and will still be looking for one. [check out the two documents listed in the "Images" section]

Research Notes

The following is a compilation from submissions to The Knight Letter (1968-ca 2005) and other associated research by Don Knight Knight-2594. I have much more on this family.

..2 Elijah [Ezekiel] Knight 1780 (Surry) Guilford co. NC [1781 Caswell NC]–d> 1830 Sumner co., TN + 4/8/1812 Guilford co., NC Elizabeth Flynn ca 1785, Guilford or Stokes co., NC. In 1850 census [needs 1850 Census, not the 1870 Census]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elijah by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elijah:

What is the source for the name Ezekiel? The marriage source is pretty clearly Elijah though misspelled with a "g". There are only 1,770 Eligah hits on all of Google vs 393 million for Elijah just to consider whether Eligiah is an actual spelling. The 1823 court petition in Abner's bio spells it Elijah with the "j" dotted.

And does Elijah appear in the 1870 US Census?
