Research Note

Based on him being the only George Knight registered in Ashby de la Zouch in the right timeframe, I found the information, below. However since George Knight was married on 9 Apr 1887 in Cape Town and the one below was living in Worthington in 1911, it clearly isn't the right George Knight. I will leave the information below as a note for any researchers who might mistakenly think it's the right one.

Jonas Knight (a farmer) and wife, Charlotte of Griffydam, in the parish of Worthington, Leicestershire had a son, George Knight baptised at Worthington on 14th June 1863.

Jonas Knight (bachelor age 23, a farmer) of Thringstone, the son of John Knight (farmer) was married to Charlotte Upton (22) of Griffydam, the daughter of Thomas Upton (traveller) on 15th June 1847 at Breedon Parish Church.

In 1861, Thomas Upton, bookseller born in Thringstone was living with his wife, Mary in Saffron Waldon, Essex. His grandson, Thomas Knight (10, a farmer's son, born in Griffydam) was staying with him. This would be George's older brother.

However, George Knight (born in Griffydam) was living in Worthington, Leicestershire in 1911 with wife, Anetta, born in Saffron Walden. They had three children, Elizabeth, Jonas and William.

Clearly then, this is a different George, as he has a different wife and was not living in Africa in 1911.

Considering the conflated information, I think it's time to make a separate profile for the George Knight who ends up in Saffron Walden, and keeping the information regarding the George Knight who settles in Rhodesia here, as there is a wife and child already connected to that George Knight on this profile. Through the making of the other profile, hopefully I can learn something through the family that helps us cement more understanding regarding the origins of each George Knight and make sure that information is stated clearly for each profile. Does this sound amenable?
