Joseph was born in 1788. He was the son of Asher Knight and Martha Clark.^[1]

He married Ruby Hyde in November 1816 in Monson, Hampden, Massachusetts, United States.^[2]

They may have had about 7 children.

His wife Ruby passed away in 1849.
